Gonorrhea Testing Information

Our SIMPLE and EFFECTIVE testing method

The NAA test for Gonorrhea requires only a small portion of urine. This will be collected by a lab technician at your local testing center, and will take only a small amount of time. We recommend you not urinate for at least 60 minutes before arriving at the testing center. No fasting is required, just show up at your designated time and try to relax.

The best time to be tested

Incubation period for the Neisseria gonorrhoeae bacteria varies from person to person, so the testing window is not exact. However, we recommend that you wait at least 2-6 days to get tested following a possible exposure. If the disease is fully developed, it is easier to detect and diagnose. Once treated, wait for 2 weeks before re-testing to make sure the treatment is successful.

Interpreting your test results

The test results usually come back within one week, and will show up as either positive or negative. A negative result means no gonorrhea was detected. A positive result means the Neisseria gonorrhoeae bacteria was detected in your urine. An initial negative result, if not testing at the right time, could prove to be a false result. If you have symptoms after a negative test, we recommend you get re-tested.

Treatment of Gonorrhea

Gonorrhea can be treated and cured with the use of antibiotics. Our doctors are available through a free phone consultation to provide information about possible treatments available to you. They also have the ability to prescribe medication to individuals with the disease as they see fit.

You should get tested if...

Anyone who is sexually active is susceptible to gonorrhea. If you are a gay or bisexual man, and participate in regular sexual activity, we recommend you get tested annually. If you are a sexually active male or female, and have sexual activity with different partners, we recommend you get tested annually as well. Untreated gonorrhea can result in permanent health problems, including sores, rashes, discharge, bleeding, itching, painful bowel movements, and a burning sensation during urination. If you experience any of these symptoms, we encourage you and any of your sexual partners to get tested.

Don't make the mistake of waiting to get tested for Gonorrhea.

Gonorrhea Testing - Don't Wait.

If you may have been exposed to gonorrhea within the past few days, now is the time to get tested. It is recommended you get tested somewhere between 2 & 6 days after possible infection. If you receive treatment, a follow up test is also recommended.

While you are getting tested for gonorrhea, why not get tested for them all? Our 10 Test Panel tests for gonorrhea, chlamydia, syphilis, HIV, both types of herpes and all three types of hepatitis. In one test you can ensure you are STD free.

Chlamydia and gonorrhea are infections that tend to co-exist, so we offer one test that looks for both. By signing up for the chlamydia-gonorrhea test panel you can guarantee you are free from both infections.
