Syphilis Testing Information

Our SIMPLE and EFFECTIVE testing method

A small sample of blood is needed to test for syphilis. This will be drawn by a lab technician, and should be relatively painless. No fasting or other preparation is required. Just show up at your designated time and try to relax.

The best time to be tested

Incubation period for the syphilis can vary among individuals, so the testing window is not always the same. However, the best time to get tested is somewhere between 3-6 weeks following a possible exposure. Once treated, wait for 3 weeks before re-testing to make sure the treatment is successful.

Interpreting your test results

The test results will show up as either positive or negative. A negative result means no syphilis was detected in your blood, while a positive result means syphilis was detected in your blood. If you receive a positive result, a TPA confirmation test will need to be run to make sure you have syphilis, and not another STD.

Treatment of Syphilis

Syphilis can be treated and cured with the use of antibiotics. Please feel free to contact our doctors for a free phone consultation about your test results and possible treatments.

You should get tested if...

If you are sexually active, you are susceptible to syphilis. Because syphilis can lay dormant for several years without any outward symptoms, you can infect other people without even knowing about it. This is why regularly testing is so important. We also recommend you encourage any of your sexual partners to get tested as well. Rashes and sores are the most common symptoms that show up with syphilis. Infected persons can also experience headaches, hair loss, muscle aches, fatigue, swollen lymph nodes, and sore throat. If you have any of these symptoms, we highly recommend you get tested.

Don't make the mistake of waiting to get tested for Syphilis.

Syphilis Testing - Don't Wait.

Syphilis is a highly contagious STD and can be passed from one person to the next quite easily. If you have been infected with syphilis, you may have exposed other people to the disease without even knowing it.

If you feel you may have been infected, doctors recommend you get tested anywhere between 3-6 weeks after possible infection. Being tested within the window of time will help you get the most accurate results. If you receive a positive diagnosis, you will need to be retested 3 months after treatment.

If you have contracted one STD, it is likely you may have contracted other STDs as well. For this reason, we offer a 10-Test Panel which allows you to get tested for chlamydia, syphilis, gonorrhea, both types of herpes, HIV and all three types of hepatitis with one test.
